Since PLAY 60 launched in 2007, the National Football League has committed more than $352 million to youth health and fitness through PLAY 60 programming, grants, and awareness campaigns, providing more than 38 million children the resources they need to boost their activity levels. As part of the project, teams may choose a variety of ways to promote the cause. When play or recreation spaces were the target, we helped create unique spaces to meet each team’s budget, timeline, and vision.
We began by creating a menu of items that teams could choose from, with the added ability to customize components, colors, branding and more. The info was uploaded to their intranet system, including detailed scopes on ordering and building a playground, fitness area, custom fields with designed surfacing, etc so the choices and process were easy to understand and commit to. Teams also had the opportunity to send players and staff to the build site to work hands on. We served in a supervisory role to ensure everything was assembled according to specification and to ensure the experience was a fun and joyful one for the volunteers who participated.
We had the honor of working with many teams to build outdoor active spaces as part of the program, including the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, the Pro Bowl team, and many others to make their vision of healthy spaces for children and families a reality. The NFL brand has been directly associated with caring about and developing healthy habits in children around the United States. Over 38 million children have been impacted by these resources which will continue to serve many more in the future.
NFL PLAY 60 has been an important tool in ensuring that youth get the recommended amount of daily physical activity. It's important that young fans understand the benefits of exercise and have the resources to build a foundation for a lifetime of good health.
